Web Culture & Social Network Research

I am currently a Lead Research for the Web Ecology Project. I write about people’s perceptions of and interactions with social platforms online, and how these cultural experiences shape the use of these systems. My research has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy Magazine, Fast Company, The Huffington Post, and CNN.

I am also a Research Specialist for the Convergence Culture Consortium in the Comparative Media Studies department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). You can view my writing here.

    The Department of Alchemy approaches American, Japanese, and international digital culture from a critical, analytical (and sometimes quite academic) perspective.
    The blog provides commentary, news, essays, reviews, reports, presentations, audio/video, and general thoughts for a mainstream audience, with intended respect to the context of the works and the broader society that encompasses them.
