Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) not many others have taken into account audiences other than the domestic. However, I do know that FUNimation has been in talks to co-produce titles in the (near?) future with Japanese companies that will cater more toward global audiences (I assume to avoid a dearth of moé and other shows geared solely toward domestic otaku).

This is a very interesting article and I realize that, as usual, I'm kind of a bit behind the stream. Indeed, I have heard of Time of Eve for the first time yesterday. Ok, I do vaguely remember seeing images of this anime, I believe in an amv, but as there was no details about it in the end credits, I didn't realize it was such a new show, nor did I know of its production particularities. Your comment about how Yasuhiro Yoshiura did not only keep in mind an international audience, but also followed their comments on the fora of the websites where this anime was streamed, could indicate the beginning of a possibly important trend in this industry as a global actor. Indeed, until recently, I had the feeling that most anime producers were working with a foremost Japanese audience in mind, with only later second thoughts about public abroad, considered under a traditional marketing lens. That anime production teams would enter into a direct conversation with members of the various audiences exposed to their work represents, in my mind, an extra-step in the tension between globalization and fragmentation of media reception. Do you know if others have been following this path?

It's a shame this hasn't gotten any comments yet. I enjoyed Time of Eve a lot, prosaic though the setup may have been at first.

Didn't know that the director was listening to feedback from American fans. That's actually kind of mind-blowing. But maybe it's also a sign of the times, what with what happened regarding Yutaka Yamamoto apologizing for Endless Eight to an audience of English-speaking fans.
